Select Mondays thru Fridays, 8:45am-12:15pm. 2-3 volunteers needed.
Age Requirement: 18 years or older

Check-In Volunteers for:

Family Services Check-In (Station A), is an outside activity.
Volunteers will be trained to use scanner and/or record client info if scanner is slow or not working for walk-up and drive-thru clients. This position is on-the-job-training, and since you are the clients first point-of- contact, you a "Front-Line & Customer Service," type volunteer.

Since staff will train volunteers, only those willing to help multiple times in a month are preferred. Clients will remain in cars and hold food cards near window to be scanned. Walk-up clients will walk-up to table and be given food that they pack into their personal rolling carts.

Walk-Up Food Box Distribution (Station A), is an outside activity.
Clients (many Seniors) do not have vehicles or are unable to drive and need to pick-up food using grocery carts or walkers. Volunteer will either scan or record card number during check-in.

Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear face masks, but it is no longer mandatory.

Appropriate Attire: Please wear closed-toe shoes (not sandals, heels, flipflops). Shirts should be short or long-sleeved (no spaghetti straps, strapless, sleeveless, mid-riff showing or tank top types). Shorts/dresses/skirts should be longer in length, appropriate for comfortably bending and reaching items.

Food assistance requests in the Family Services Office have doubled since during COVID-19. Volunteers are needed to help with food box distribution drive-thru and walk-thru for smoother and safer distribution to families, Seniors and homeless.

Required:
-Register as volunteer on-line siliconvalley.salvationarmy.org and click on "2024 Family Services Check-In"
-Attend Volunteer Orientation (20-25 minutes)
-Cleared on Megan's Law Registry
-Initial USDA Forms
-Must be 18 years or older
-Volunteers going over 20 hours will complete a Background Check
-If feeling unwell, stay home, contact volunteer coordinator and reschedule when you feel better
