RoleOverview

The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, and training and development. The CHRO provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the Senior Leadership Team.

Essential Functions

The Chief Human Resource Officer is broadly responsible for all things related to talent at SG. They are integral to enabling all the employees to deliver their best work toward attaining SG’s mission. As Chief Human Resource Officer, you will:

  • Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, helping to define the overall vision and direction of the organization
  • Partner with Senior Leadership Team to identify and deploy impactful people strategies and policies that enable SG to perform effectively and scale efficiently as we grow
  • Oversee recruitment, volunteer relations, and, training & development and develop metrics to gauge performance
  • Improve employee engagement by fostering an inclusive work environment
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training & development, and volunteer engagement globally.

Qualifications

Basic

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and help the team get work done as we are small, young and growing team
  • A clear and systematic approach to prioritizing people-related challenges

Preferred

  • 15+ years of professional experience, with at least some experience in education, technology, and/or the non-profit sectors
  • Experience successfully leading or building a HR Operations or related team (HR, Recruitment, Staff Development, Compensation & Benefits etc)
  • An understanding of the unique challenges related to talent management in volunteer run organizations and the ability respond to them effectively
