ORGANIZATION: Koreatown Youth & Community Center

Passionate about the environment? Join us in keeping Central and South Los Angeles beautiful!

The Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) is one of the leading organizations that plants trees in the City of Los Angeles and we can use your help! We believe that our dedication and support of inspired community actions is the most effective way to achieve meaningful and sustainable environmental change. Our internship program is a great way for those who are interested in the inner workings of urban forestry.

Koreatown is one of the least green and most densely populated urban neighborhoods in the United States. We have limited park and recreational space, with few healthy and mature trees. We believe that our dedication and support of inspired community actions is the most effective way to achieve meaningful and sustainable environmental change. Our Environmental Services provide training and resources for residents to beautify their neighborhood, to increase open space for families and to grow tree-lined streets in Los Angeles. In just one year, we planted over 1,100 trees in Central and South LA and removed over 1.3 million square feet of graffiti.

Internship Roles and Responsibilities

  • Engage and cultivate relationships with community members to support KYCC's free tree programs
  • Provide administrative support for our tree adoption program from start to finish, including outreach through social media campaigns, constituent communications, data tracking, delivery and maintenance
  • This internship includes a mix of remote and in-person hours.
