HorsePlay's major volunteer need is horse-handling and/or side-walking during therapy sessions.
As a horse-handler, you must be comfortable around horses, have prior horse experience, groom, tack/untack, and lead the horse as specified by the therapist. Emergency training, signed HIPOAA forms, and signed waivers are required.
As a side-walker, prior horse experience is not required. Side-walkers are responsible for "spotting" riders for safety during the mounted portion of the therapy session. This is an interactive opportunity between the volunteer and therapy participate, which also requires walking through the arena, standing/walking in 30 minute periods, and engaging in various play activities. Emergency training, signed HIPOAA forms, and signed waivers are required.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
