Make a MEANINGFUL & SUSTAINABLE impact on your community - help families access and secure essential rental assistance funds!
At CONNECT, families and individuals in our community can call our hotline number (617-712-3487) and receive assistance accessing necessities such as unemployment benefits, emergency rental assistance, and SNAP food benefits. As a volunteer on our hotline, you will respond to incoming calls and assist in processing applications for the RAFT program. RAFT (Residential Assistance for Families in Transition) is a State funded program to provide eligible households up to $10,000 per 12-month period to help retain their housing, obtain new housing, or otherwise avoid becoming homeless. As a volunteer for the RAFT hotline, your role will be to understand the RAFT program and its eligibility criteria, and assist community members with the application process.
This is the PERFECT volunteer opportunity for any student looking to make a substantial impact while learning more about housing policy through non-profit work. You will work with a dedicated group of staff and volunteers and have the opportunity to practice intake and case-management.
This opportunity is 100% remote and flexible work, with weekends shifts available. A time commitment of 10 hours/week for at least 6 weeks is required. Spanish language fluency IS required. You must be able to pass a background check to volunteer within this role.

Mission Statement
Our Mission is to invest in the process of building healthy neighborhoods by promoting affordable housing, desirable public spaces and resident prosperity and leadership.
Description
Our Vision is to work towards a future in which Chelsea, Revere, and Everett are cities of opportunity - comprised of healthy neighborhoods where people feel welcome and connected to their community. Places where residents of all income levels can grow and prosper.
Supporting People: Our Connect team provides education opportunities including debt management and homebuying basics. We also offer financial coaching to encourage responsible money management and to increase household wealth.
Engaging Community: Through our community building activities, we create strong connections among neighbors, foster a positive neighborhood identity and build social capital linking residents and community institutions to foster a vibrant sense of community life.
Building Housing: TND and our partners develop quality affordable apartments and homes for mixed- income households through the purchase of existing substandard properties and former industrial sites.
Advocate for Housing Justice: TND seeks to engage residents in initiatives, advocacy, and legislation surrounding affordable housing. We believe that resident leaders have the power to keep their cities affordable through education and actions.
