We believe every kid should have a chance to succeed in Math! Join us to make this happen! Our organization has more than 100 tutors each school year from 30+ schools. In the past 4 years, we have provided free math tutoring to more than 400 students and provided over 10000 hours of personalized service. One-hour tutoring sessions are provided from Monday to Sunday as a way for students to keep up academic learning and social connection with peers. At the end of the 2020-2021 school year, many students/parents shared their feedback and testimonies on how our personalized tutoring has helped students to improve both their academic knowledge and social skills.

Our 2021-2022 session will start on Monday, August 30th. The volunteer signup form is linked at: The student signup form is linked at:

About Math Matters

Orange County, Irvine, CA 92620, US

Mission Statement

Our team is striving to build a strong program to help students improve their math learning and boost their confidence. We believe that math is not about just memorizing formulas, but much more about looking for patterns and trying new approaches. Math is a beautiful subject, and the sooner kids understand this the better. We would like to help students build their love and confidence in math in their schoolwork and beyond.

Math Matters is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to help k-12 students build their love and confidence in math. It was started as a small tutoring program in 2017 from Foothill Ranch Library and has been expanded to six public libraries and one school as we see the high demands in local communities. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we moved the program completely online and rebranded it to "Math Matters". We prioritize individual attention to every student and provide 1-on-1 tutoring to tailor the instruction according to students’ interests, goals, and backgrounds.

We currently have 100+ tutors from 30+ schools located from the west coast to the east coast. Most tutors are high school students, with some college students joining from Boston University, Creighton University, De Anza College, Irvine Valley College, Harvard, UCLA, and US Air Force Academy. Over the past four years, we have provided free tutoring services to over 400 kids nationwide and saw tremendous growth in our students’ math skills as well as social communication skills, and tutors shared with us how enjoyable and meaningful it was to be part of this endeavor. With the team, we will continue to grow the program and foster a sense of community that shares the core values of teaching, service, commitment, and trust.
