Role Purpose
Preserve and protect our parks and park ecosystems
Support native plants and animals in parks through invasive species monitoring and removal
Maintain the beauty of our parks for community members to enjoy
Provide opportunities for environmental education and public outreach through our events and projects as added value for our volunteers
Responsibilities
Act as the leader and point person for AZSA’s Conservation Priority
Oversee and manage project coordinators and project for Conservation priority (the number of projects and volunteers will change over time)
Work with the Executive Director to build and maintain relationships within the conservation community
Work with the Fundraising Committee to ensure that projects are properly funded
Collaborate directly with the Communications Director for any needs related to social media, branding, etc.
Speak at New Volunteer Orientations about the Conservation Priority
Ideal Skill Set
Experience in environmental science, conservation, sustainability, and/or ecological restoration
Experience as a Project Manager or other managerial position (or willingness to learn)
Understanding of project management techniques and methods (project design, implementation, and evaluation)
Excellent knowledge of office productivity tools; working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent problem-solving ability
Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing and researching topics of interest
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"
High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Time commitment: Minimum of 10 Hours Per Week
