Benefits: As a Lane Victory Maritime Center volunteer, you are joining the crew of the SS LANE VICTORY! We are a community that is sustained by the drive to preserve and interpret this iconic and unique piece of history for generations to come. You will work with a dedicated and highly motivated group of volunteers from multiple generations including mariners who served aboard the similar historical ships.
Volunteers receive a discount in our ship’s store as well as certain area restaurants and businesses. Our volunteers are also recognized with a variety of awards and ceremonies that celebrate milestones of service and outstanding accomplishments. Come be a part of history today!
Processing and Training: Prospective volunteers must complete an application before our New Volunteer Orientation (NVO). Prospects may apply and interview for multiple opportunities, but acceptance is determined by each department head and the Board of Directors.
New volunteers are paired with a Sponsor within their first month and are expected to attend a one day orientation class that is offered each month. Departmental training is provided through one-on-one mentorship.
Please be patient as staff hours have been reduced during the COVID-19 crisis. We will respond to your application as soon as we are able.
Our mission is to commemorate the service of the United States Merchant Marine, preserve and interpret its history, and provide education and training that serves the contemporary and future needs of our community.
