Mission Statement
OUR MISSION: As an all-volunteer crew, we are dedicated to the restoration and maintenance of the Lane Victory in fully-operational and sea-worthy condition. Did you know that nearly 70% of the Merchant Marines in World War II were 4-F's, found not qualified for service in the Armed Forces? But there was a war to be fought, so they enlisted in the United States Merchant Marine. The Merchant Marine and its gallant Seaman were one of the keys to our success in the World War II. Despite losses, some of the foulest weather, threats from Axis submarines, the brave men of the Merchant Marine, never faltered. Today, the Lane Victory is berthed in the Port of Los Angeles where she was built in 1945 and serves as a living memorial honoring the legacy of the brave seaman of the United States Merchant Marines who courageously served and/or made the ultimate sacrifice in WWII. Join us and be a part of living history.
