The Thaddeus Resource Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to restore HOPE, inspire GROWTH, and EMPOWER girls and women through education, life skill development, workforce training, and other supportive services.
Job Description:
The Life Coach volunteer will help improve the lives of families by providing advice/assistance with solving problems, and help others set/accomplish their goals. The volunteer will work at the donation center that strives to empower, educate, counsel, and inspire families and individuals to move from a place of dependence to living independently. Through guidance, the Life Coach volunteer will have a great impact on the lives of those who seek the path to a brighter future and life. The position can be performed fully in person and/or in combination of in-person and remote work.
Time Commitment:
- Due to Covid-19, this position is 100% virtual until further notice
- All responsibilities will be done fully remotely, at volunteers’ discretion/time
- Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week VIRTUALLY
- Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings:
- All Staff Meeting: Mondays 12pm - 2pm
- Program Meetings: Mondays 10am - 11am
- Must be able to commit to this 1-year volunteer opportunity
Responsibilities:
- Provide support and advice
- Help others establish goals
- Help others achieve their goals
- Provide adequate and constructive feedback
- Encourage and motivate others
- Help others set priorities
- Monitor progress and find solutions to setbacks
- The volunteer works primarily with low-income and homeless women/families
Requirements:
- Experience as a life coach or in counseling preferred
- Possess strong personal integrity and ethical principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience
- Be a positive role model
- Excellent listener
- Ability to motive, encourage, and guide others
- Ability to pass the mandated reporter exam
- Intern must have the appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams
Learning Objectives:
- Learn to analyze and interpret situations and recommend viable solutions
- Learn methods and techniques to help families/individuals obtain goals
- Learn how to empathize and actively listen to identify problems
- Learn how to use diverse methods to inspire and motivate individuals
