Mentor Families Living in Poverty - Prosper Placer Ally

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Child Advocates of Placer County

Our Goal:

Prosper Placer is both a support system to help families move out of poverty as well as a community improvement process. We sere families and individuals living in situational or generational poverty and who are highly motivated to move from surviving to thriving.

The keystone to success:

The keystone of Prosper Placer is the involvement of volunteer allies who meet with a family regularly to support the completion of goals, help with problem solving, and point towards resources that families can utilize along the way.

Quote from one of our families:
"The most meaningful part, the part that I cherish and that made me want to keep coming back was the relationship we built in the very first few weeks of Prosper Placer, getting to know new people. Because of Prosper Placer our family is 100% thriving, and we are out of poverty."

About Child Advocates of Placer County

3715 Atherton Rd. Suite 1, Rocklin, CA 95765, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to be the bridge between the most vulnerable in our community and volunteers who want to make a difference.

We serve our community through three volunteer-driven programs:
1) Placer CASA, which trains and assigns volunteers to be Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) who then serve children in foster care, ensuring that they have a voice in the courtroom and their needs are met,
2) Placer Mentors, which assigns volunteer Mentors to at-risk youth (ages 8-18) and former foster youth (ages 18-24) who are transitioning into adulthood without families to help support them, and to parents who are struggling to maintain their families, and
3) Prosper Placer, which, in collaboration with local area churches, helps working families who are living below the poverty level find financial prosperity.
