Close the Gap is a 100% volunteer-based organization dedicated to creating a future of equitable opportunities for low-income students and professionals. Founded in 2018 by a group of Silicon Valley, like-minded professionals, Close the Gap focuses on mentorship, workshops, project-based learning, financial/resource assistance, and awarding scholarships.

This role reports to our Program Manager, Grantwriting.

WHY CLOSE THE GAP NEEDS YOU
  • You are passionate about our mission to close the opportunity gap and excited about the opportunity to create a roadmap to funding development focusing on grant writing
  • You want to make a difference to help the less privileged
  • You will provide leadership for grant research, writing, and application development
  • Key responsibilities will be securing major grants, research, and exploring grant feasibility
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Identify and research on grants in response to program needs and those that CTG may be eligible for - local, state, government, foundation, and corporate grants
  • For relevant grants, prepare brief reports or presentations explaining the grant including relevant information, requirements, general thoughts on the grant, and present to the CTG team on a weekly basis
  • Write a Grant Letter of Intent, and apply for applicable grants.
  • Serves as a representative and spokesperson for Close the Gap and plays a role in maintaining relationships with donors and grant funders
  • Continuously maintain a comprehensive, tracking database/system of grant status, contact details (current, pending, and potential granting sources)
  • Assist in the grant budget preparation process in collaboration with Program Manager / Executive Accountant as needed
  • Track grants and opportunities using the Non-Profit Salesforce technology.
  • Meet all internal and external grant deadlines

  • Passionate about creating an equitable society

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • A good storyteller, ability to write clear, structured, and persuasive proposals.
  • Very strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with great outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to advocacy, diversity, and serving the community.
  • Ability to attend Weekly Staff Meetings, currently on Thursdays at 8-9:30 pm PT
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in grant writing, corporate relations, and/or development; not-for-profit experience a plus
