Meal Prep / Cook
REVIVE AND THRIVE PROJECT
The Revive & Thrive Project began in 2015 and supports health in our community by 1) teaching young people healthy cooking and job skills through our Teen Chef program, 2) provides free home delivered meals to those facing a life-threatening illness (mostly cancer patients) during treatment, 3) offers nutrition education classes and 4) supports local sustainable agriculture.
We are in desperate need of experienced cooks/chefs to help us prepare our meals. Typically, our volunteer teens and adult volunteers prepare meals for those with cancer, congestive heart failure, etc. but due to covid-19 everything has changed life in the kitchen. Shifts are on Tuesdays from 11:30am - 3:30pm. We are also looking for an Adult Mentor Chef to work with our teens on Wednesdays from 11am - 4pm.
Required: Food handlers certificate (training is available to obtain), experience in a commercial kitchen
Keeping you safe: We provide a mask you can keep, gloves and distancing of 6 feet in the kitchen. We only have 4-5 adults in the kitchen at a time.
We do ask that any volunteers who do not have a current food handlers safety card take the below online food prep safety course that includes a certificate upon completion.
About REVIVE AND THRIVE PROJECT
4330 ASPEN TRAILS DR NE, GRAND RAPIDS, MI 49546, US
We seek to educate the greater community about the powerful connection between food, health and local sustainable agriculture.
We support individuals and their families dealing with serious illness with free, delivered, and nutrient-rich meals along with a community of nurturing support. We involve young people as volunteer chefs who can experience the transforming power of serving and nurturing those in need while developing cooking and healthy eating skills. Educating the broader community about the connections between healthy food & healing is at the heart of what we do.
