Save Blood Drives, Save Lives Put your license, professional background, and skills to lifesaving practice. Be a part of our R.N. Program today! What is a RN of Record volunteer? Oversee donor eligibility and donor reactions Observe donors post-donation Encourage donors to use RapidPass (our mobile phone registration app) Educate donors on best donation type for their blood type Socialize and build relationships to inspire new volunteers Why does the American Red Cross need RN of Record volunteers? California regulations require that any time blood is drawn under a license - it must be under the supervision of a physician or a registered nurse trained in the procedure. Without an RN of Record volunteer - life-saving blood wouldn’t make it to our Pomona donation center where it is processed and delivered to hospitals all over California. Qualifications: RN license must be active in the state of California. A warm, friendly and gracious manner with a desire to help others. Good communication skills to give verbal instructions clearly, politely and accurately to donors. Customer service experience preferred with a commitment to putting donor first at all times. Demonstrated dependability and punctuality. Training: Required training sessions broken down to 2-day orientation and then 3-days of instructor led training held at Pomona Blood Center Headquarters (total of 5 training days): Ensures volunteers are familiar with donor qualifications and complications. Training is approximately 8 hours a day. Email, Text or Email Karla Legorreta, Karla.Legorreta@redcross.org or (714) 380-7263
