The American Red Cross responds to the needs of residents during evacuation orders and need licensed health care professionals to help residents in our shelters. Responsibilties: Provide hands-on care for evacuated individuals and families to include but not limited to assistance with activities of daily living, wound care, incontinence care, assistance with functional needs. Provide health education, health assessments and determination if a higher level of care is needed. Assist clients to replace medications, durable medical equipment or consumable medical supplies. Advocate for client needs with Disaster Health Services supervisor. Support maternal and child needs as necessary. What is a Blood Donor Ambassador (aka Blood Drive volunteer)? Help check-in blood donors to their appointment and provide customer service in a medical setting to make blood donors feel inspired to return. Volunteer now to strengthen your skills, learn new skills and support blood donations to save lives! *Volunteers will have access to an online calendar and can schedule themselves for the shifts and locations of choice. Save lives by simply delivering blood and blood products from our blood distribution centers to local hospitals. The American Red Cross needs volunteers to transport blood and blood products in a safe and timely manner. Transport blood or blood products from our blood distribution center (100 Red Cross Cir. Pomona, CA 91768) to local Orange County hospitals. Commit to at least 2-4 shifts each month for a minimum of 6 months Shifts are available in morning, afternoon and evening Pick up and return boxes as needed. Complete required paperwork and obtain signatures. Communicate and share feedback between Red Cross personnel and customers. Drive in a safe and responsible manner. Requirements: Must be fully vaccinated and wear a mask Valid CA state driver's license - 3 years driving experience. Able to verify safe driving records with state or insurance Current car registration and insurance required if using own vehicle (Red Cross vehicles also provided). The Recovery Services Client Care Program allows the Red Cross to rapidly meet disaster-caused needs by enabling clients to apply and receive financial assistance and/or community resources. The Intake Service Associate supports the recovery of disaster affected individuals, households, and communities by conducting intake, the initial activity in creating a client record and case in RC Care (case management system) and providing care, comfort, and concern to the clients. Responsibilities: Conduct intake to gather the information needed to support a client’s disaster-caused needs Interview the client, explaining the Red Cross mission and the Client Care Program assistance, promoting realistic client expectations, and determining eligibility Create client records and cases in RC Care Provide financial assistance to qualified clients when applicable Provide information and assist with problem-solving and advocacy on request Required: Able to deploy to out-of-state for 14 consecutive days (within 48 hours) Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities. Willing and able to volunteer in person before, during and/or after a disaster event Ability to work in a continuously changing environment in which work priorities may change frequently Comfortable interacting with people from various diverse backgrounds whose lives have been disrupted and many are presenting immediate needs Able to serve the client with care, comfort, and concern Able to recognize the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization Comfortable learning new online case management systems Hold an active RC Care account with an Intake Worker user role Experience using Microsoft Office products; Red Cross email is highly recommended Minimum 18 years of age Hold a valid Driver’s License (required for Divisional and National Deployments) Able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English Ability to speak clearly on phone and in person Ability to live in hardship conditions such as a staff shelter Ability to stand and/or sit for two-hour periods Sign-up to volunteer today !
