Safely transport blood from collection sites to the lab for processing and/or deliver blood or blood products to hospital customers. Be a part of the Red Cross’ ability to provide about 40% of our nation’s blood and blood components! Responsibilities: Transport blood from collection site to Red Cross laboratory Transport finished blood or blood products to hospital customers as routine or "stat" deliveries Pick up empty boxes from hospitals as necessary Deliver supplies to blood collection sites as needed Complete required paperwork and obtain signatures as necessary Communicate with Red Cross staff on feedback from customers or any urgent issues Drive in a safe and responsible manner as a representative of the American Red Cross Requirements: 2 shifts per month, for at least 6 months, preferably 1 year. Each shift is about 5 hours long. Shifts start/end from the Pomona (near CalPoly) processing site Valid state driver's license and 3 years of licensed driving experience, required Familiarity with geographic area and driving routes, required Able to verify safe driving record (Note: An MVR check will be completed as a part of the interview process for this position), required Current insurance and state registration if using personal vehicle, required Ability to lift 45 lbs., required Successful completion of American Red Cross Transportation Specialist Training and Defensive Driving course upon acceptance in position, required 18 years of age or older Volunteer Locations Pomona, California! Takes a leadership role in planning the logistics of event execution! Responsibilities: Take a leadership role in planning logistics of Red Cross special events. Supervise event volunteers Assist with event execution, including working with event venue, caterer, coordinating auction, volunteer support and community outreach. Cultivate, solicit and steward Red Cross support through donated auction items, ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities. Prepare the event program in a timely manner, including developing scripts for event presenters. Coordinate all day-of logistics, including timeline, supervising event volunteers, and more. Our Disaster Action Team Volunteers (aka Disaster Response Volunteers) provide 24 hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. No one else does this: not the government, not other charities. From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters, the American Red Cross goes wherever we’re needed, so people can have clean water, safe shelter and hot meals when they need them most. Responsibilities: Participation in meetings, projects, and local response activities Completes all required training and maintains current training standard as DAT program requirements change. Attends regular team meetings and training as required by the region/territory. Completes assigned projects and local response activities according to the needs of the DAT program. (Preparing vehicles, response materials, administrative support of the DAT program and other tasks assigned by the DAT Leader.) Requirements: Follow and execute requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision. Adapt to change, negotiate compromise and tolerate ambiguity. Build effective relationships with others who can help with work-related goals. Ability to speak another language is a plus!
