Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Pathways of Hope

Pathways of Hope

COVID has impacted the ability of many Orange County residents to acquire food. Pathways of Hope is a nonprofit organization that serves families and individuals throughout North Orange County.

For 47 years Pathways of Hope has been providing food, shelter and support and prevention services to the hungry, homeless and marginalized through assistance of local congregations, volunteers, businesses and grants from foundations and government agencies.

ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL PROJECT:

Volunteers are needed to provide, create and donate hygiene care kits as Remote Volunteers. The hygiene care kits you make and donate will be distributed to our food distribution and shelter clients. We currently have 60 people living in our shelters, and up to 50 households visiting the HUB in a day. Thank you for supporting our community's most vulnerable residents during these difficult times!

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Collect Items

You can be a bit creative with the items that you use; however, keep in mind that these bags may be carried around everywhere and thus should not be too heavy. Items that are perfect for these care bags are listed below, but you can be creative and choose what you want to include:

Water bottle

Socks or beanie caps

Tuna (pop-top canned meat) and crackers

Soft granola or cereal bar

Fruit snack or applesauce cup

Crackers with peanut butter or cheese

Gift certificate to fast food

Hand wipes & hand sanitizer

Lotion

Band-Aids

Chapstick

Sunscreen

Comb or small brush

Shampoo/Conditioner

Pack of Kleenex

Maxi pads/Tampons

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Can-opener

Mints, cough drops or gum

Create Kits

Now you are ready to assemble! Host a 'virtual assembling event' with friends and/or coworkers on video conferencing or do it at home with your children. Tip: hotel shampoos & soaps from trips are perfect for bags. Remember to pack the items in a sturdy bag, we recommend using plastic gallon re-sealable bags or cinch sacks.

This information is also posted on our Pathways website at https://www.pohoc.org/remote-volunteering/.
