Writers, journalists and labor activists in mainland China face an extremely hostile environment and retaliation for speaking out, sometimes including enforced disappearances. The sophisticated technological controls (ie the great firewall, and censorship algorithms) make it difficult for them to get their stories out.
Volunteers will follow up on individual cases and raise their stories in both English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) media.
Optionally, volunteers with ties inside mainland China, Hong Kong or other sensitive areas may pair with those who do not have any such ties, in order to safely participate. You may provide translations and ideas without making any public posts, for instance.

civ.works is a privacy protected social platform built for meaningful civic action.
The concept of civ.works is to finally provide a societal machine to stand up against something created nearly 50 years ago -and begin the process of empowering citizens again. We are building a platform together -against an incredibly mature and well-funded machine. Your volunteer efforts will be helping us collectively build something powerful and important.
