Who are we?

Catholic Charities helps people living in poverty and those who are overlooked and neglected to live with greater well-being, safety and dignity. We are most proud of our ability to provide compassionate, high quality, professional, culturally competent human services for the diverse population living in the ten counties of southeast Wisconsin. Our advancement team is a vital part of this mission to serve people in need by providing effective communication and relationship building with the community and our donors.

What will I do as the Social Media Intern?

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to: work closely with Mission Advancement, meet and interview our staff and be able to fully experience Catholic Charities’ mission and the impact on our community.

You will create content (written, graphic design, photo or video) to be used on our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linked in.

The Social Media Intern may also be asked to support the Public Relations strategic goals by writing print materials and client stories for appeals and newsletters.

What are the requirements?

Interns should have at least a Junior Status, have an interest in Non-Profits and be pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Digital Communication, Community Engagement, or a related field. Prior volunteer or internship experience with communications, or professional writing, digital media is a plus.

Description

Catholic Charities mission to "provide service to those in need, to advocate for justice and to call upon others to do the same" has been the core of our work since 1920. We measurably improve the lives of the poor in our communities and empower them to reach their full potential. When we accomplish this, lives are transformed and the benefits to the community can be exponential starting by improving the quality of life one person at a time.

With an outpouring of support from the community, we are able to help the poorest among us. We help people of all faiths, ages and cultures improve their ability to be self-sufficient, raise a family in more stable and healthy homes, escape violence, cope with emotional and behavioral challenges, and overcome barriers to a better life.
