Brilliant Detroit is excited to partner with Springboard to offer literacy tutoring for families with children K-3rd grade. We are looking for volunteer virtual literacy instructors to help us close the reading achievement gap!
Description:
Springboard and Brilliant Detroit are partnering to host a 10 week virtual literacy program for families with children K-3rd grade. Instructors will lead weekly virtual workshops with a class of 10-12 students, using pre-created curriculum to help develop students' literacy skills, as well as engage with families on how they can support their child's learning journey.
You could be a good fit if:
- You have a background in education, teaching, social work, or something similar
- You have experience working with young children
- Are interested in working with families to help them learn how they can support their child's literacy skills beyond the classrom
Location: Virtual
Time Commitment: Volunteers should be able to commit to approximately 7 hours per week throughout this 10-week program period.
- Attend three, two-hour long Springboard teacher trainings and submit to a background check.
- Conduct a one hour Family Workshop for 5 of the 10 weeks (time is flexible).
- Attend one hour of professional development and instructional support with your Program Leader and the other Springboard instructors each week.
- Meet 1:1 for 30 minutes with students to prove one-on-one instruction.
Dates: Classes start the week of October 12 and go until the week of December 18th.
This position pays $18/hour to qualified individuals. Individuals who speak both Spanish and English are highly encouraged to apply!!
