National CleanUp Day is the Third Saturday in Sept

Welcome to Clean Trails, National CleanUp Day, and CleanUp News.

Our newest project, CleanUp News launches in September. Looking for SCIENCE writers with a flair for people and the outdoors to create a portfolio of stories for specific news pieces. Your pieces will relate to the environment, outdoors, the people and science. We have connections to the science community and will be contacting high level researchers. A science background is a must as well as ability to write clearly based upon information presented in peer reviewed publications. Generally, pieces will be Discover Magazine to Scientific American in terms of reading level.

CleanUp News is global in scope and is one of several initiatives by Clean Trails to bring awareness of litter solutions. We are partnering with multiple organizations to solve the waste problem in each individual country. Clean Trails is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization and community of people dedicated to keeping the outdoors clean. Study after study shows the highest indicator that someone will pick up litter is if they witness someone else picking up litter. That’s because peer group norms are more powerful than incentives, and when worked in concert with each other, they can provide impressive behavioral change impacts.

Core to our beliefs is the notion that people want to do the right things; all they need is a little encouragement or incentive. We believe that people are naturally responsible; if we encourage them to care for their favorite places, to pick up after themselves and others, then our trails will become self-sufficient, clean, and more enjoyable.

Description

We’re a nonprofit organization aiming to become a nation-wide community of people dedicated to keeping our wild places and the trails that access those spaces free of litter.
