Help get food to hungry people during this COVID 19 crisis. Volunteers are needed to pack food bags, unload trucks, distribute food and more. Shifts are available Monday through Thursday in our Food Distribution building. Dress code is comfortable, conservative and casual which means no really short shorts, spandex or tank tops please. Closed toed shoes are required for safety and comfort. Personal protective equipment is supplied and social distancing is practiced. The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties includes many locations offering multiple programs and services. Facilities include a 182 bed residential shelter, Outreach Services Center and Crisis Management, the Crossroads Center for residential substance abuse porgram, Outreach Centers in Bonita Springs ,LaBelle, Moorehaven, Clewiston and Lehigh Acres, a Worship and Administration center and transitional housing for graduate clients. Programs include a comprehensive care program, family shelter, the Crossroads faith-based substance abuse program, a medical respite unit and primary care clinic for the homeless and uninsured, a correctional services program, a food services program which includes evening meals for the homeless and needy, crisis management for those on the verge of homelessness, a Christmas Cheer outreach ministry to disadvantaged homes in the area, summer camps and more. These social service programs help thousands of people each year and are very rewarding to be involved with.
