We're looking for someone who is comfortable with social media, blogs, and web content and can help us make better use of the platforms we currently have as well as offer guidance on new ways we can reach out to our community and supporters.
The West Central Park Project is an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit community park on the Westside of Olympia. Our mission is to help create and maintain a walkable neighborhood and a resilient, connected community. We believe that having a beautiful space for the neighborhood to enjoy will enhance both the community and the economy surrounding it. Current areas of focus are developing the WCP as a neighborhood food hub through our raised beds, fruit trees, and (when pandemic rules eventually permit) a Farm Stand that bridges the gap between small local farms and our immediate neighbors.
This is a great opportunity for someone with time and basic skills to take the lead in designing and building a social media and communications program. We are happy to consider volunteers who require community service or internship placements, or someone who just wants to be part of our dedicated, green-space loving group of volunteers.
Although this is a virtual position, it is desirable that the Social Media Manager be able to stop by the Park from time to time, to capture photos and videos as content needs dictate. Will consider all-remote position for someone with applicable skills who is able to define their visual content needs so others can acquire the necessary images.

Mission Statement
The West Central Park Project is committed to maintaining a walkable neighborhood and a resilient, connected community. We believe that having a beautiful space for the neighborhood to enjoy will enhance both the community and the economy surrounding it.
Description
Purchased in 2013 as as a result of community resistance to this derelict corner commercial lot being developed as yet another gas station and strip mall, West Central Park Project was formed as a 501c3 nonprofit with the goal of creating a green, inviting, multi-use neighborhood common space that would promote resilience and community connection. A dedicated group of volunteers has helped the park grow into a green hub that inspires walking in the neighborhood, shared bounty from edible fruit trees and raised vegetable beds, free summer concerts and movies, and a sunny open "plaza" for picnic lunches and chess games.
Now we are moving into an exciting new phase, with most of the foundational planting and infrastructure complete. We have lots of ideas for using this wonderful space in different ways, including hosting a Farm Stand for small local farmers with CSA offerings or possibly direct sales, an expanded schedule of concerts and open mic events, workshops, and more. We need volunteers who enjoy gardening, but also are looking for folks to be on our Stage Crew for concerts, help with outreach and communications via social media and other channels, and take on special projects that will allow us to connect more of our neighbors to this unique resource in the heart of the community.
