City Fare administers Meals on Wheels throughout New Castle County,Delaware. Through this program, City Fare delivers 800 meals to homebound senior citizens and disabled individuals throughout the county. With over 40 daily routes, we rely heavily on volunteers. These volunteers are our eyes and our ears. Not only do they provide a hot meal to the homebound clients, but they are sometimes the only interaction the client will have all day. Volunteers report back to us if something seems wrong with the client, and family members are happy that someone is checking on their loved ones while they are away at work.
Volunteers deliver meals to clients on a delivery route. Meals are picked up at a senior center or designated pick up site between 11:00 and 11:30 each weekday. Along with the meals the volunteer will find a route sheet with each individual's name and address and directions from home to home.
Volunteers are greatly needed throughout New Castle County, but especially in New Castle, Delaware City, Middletown, and North Wilmington.
