ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army - San Jose, CA

Volunteers may help w/food prep, plate food from steam tables or serve food trays to Seniors at their tables. After meal when Seniors leave, wipe down chairs and tables and stack in groups of 8. Wash pots, food trays, windows, or other kitchen or dining room clean-up as needed.

New Time: 11:30am-1:30pm, Mondays thru Fridays

Appropriate Attire: Mandatory closed-toe shoes, no sandals, flipflops or open toes shoes allowed. Kitchen provides hair nets and plastic gloves that must be used. Please wear short or long-sleeved shirts (no spaghetti straps, sleeveless, mid-riff or tank-top types). Shorts/skirts/dresses must be longer length, appropriate for bending and reaching and avoiding heat sources in kitchen area.

Required:
-Register on-line (siliconvalley.salvationarmy.org, click on "2023 Sr. Center Kitchen Helper."
-Attend Volunteer Orientation (20-25 minutes), at least 3 days before first day of volunteering.
-Must complete a Vaccine Attestation Form.
-Cleared on Megan's Law Registry.
-Complete Educational Online Course (20-25 minutes).
-Initial USDA Forms.
-Age 16 or older.
-Volunteers going over 20 hours will need to complete Background Check.
-If feeling unwell, stay home, inform volunteer coordinator & reschedule for another time.
