Norfolk County RSVP seeks committed, fit individuals to be team members to be on call for emergency response with the American Red Cross for the Norfolk County Area. This is a special opportunity to be on the front lines during a crisis or emergency. See details below:

Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to home fires and other local disasters, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. Disaster Action Team members must be available to sign-up for on call shifts and respond to an emergency within 2 hours. This is an impactful position that provides a unique opportunity to work on the front lines during a crisis

Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to respond reliably to local disasters when on call

Norfolk County RSVP has volunteer opportunities for people aged 55 & over in 28 cities and towns at over 50 volunteer sites. Volunteer opportunities include mentoring pre-release inmates, tutoring elementary school children, drivers for Veterans, meals on wheels and food pantires, friendly visiting, non-profit support services and many more! N.C. RSVP will find the volunteer opportunity that best fits your interests & schedule and impacts the needs that are most critical to our county's communities. N.C. RSVP provides mileage reimbursement, accident & liability insurance, an invitation to our annual recognition event, monthly newsletters, orientation & training.
