The Role:

We are currently looking for a volunteer System Administrator with a solid understanding in JIRA and Microsoft Azure. This role implements, monitors, and maintains JIRA and Microsoft Azure solutions, including major services related to compute, storage, network, and security. As we are currently implementing new products into our infrastructure, we are looking for an individual who can lead, support, and help implement the efforts related to the installation and maintenance of Azure and JIRA within the STW(tm) organizational infrastructure. As this position will be volunteer project based, hours will be set based on the length of the project given.

The ideal individual for this project will understand STW(tm) organization’s current infrastructure needs including our mission and vision as stated below and ensure that this is communicated in the outcome for this project.

What you will be responsible for......

  • Lead and manage the company’s JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Azure efforts.
  • Work closely with the Technology Director, Associate Technology Directors, and other Technology members to streamline the JIRA communication amongst other STW groups.
  • Ensures that the operational activities required to manage and administrate the implemented JIRA and Microsoft Azure solutions are documented and executed consistently to meet STW(tm) security and audit requirements.
  • Maintain the security of Azure as it relates to encrypting data in transit, at rest, and in use, protecting Azure Active Directory accounts against compromise, and reducing the attack surface of all Azure resources.
  • Working at L2 or L3 support level on operational issues, requests and project tasks involving various technologies (e.g. Azure, Windows server, patching tools).
  • Install, configure, administrate, manage, and support Azure compute instances, Azure Backup, Azure Storage Monitor, snapshot, Azure Storage, VNet, Load Balancers and RBAC.
  • Collaborate with the Project Leader for the area to develop and communicate task level detail for project plans.
  • Be willing to attend weekly virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 24 hours.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education

  • A minimum of 2-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in information or computer science or similar; equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience in IT or computer science.
  • Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables.
  • Prior experience with handling large websites and updates.
  • Must have a hands-on experience of System Administration of Windows server-side infrastructure (i.e. Azure, virtual machines, and associated technologies on physical servers).
  • Linux and JIRA experience
  • Microsoft Azure experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Must attend weekly meetings in EST time zones.
  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills, flexibility, urgency, and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.

Preferred

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE or similar) preferred but not required
  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ103) preferred but not required
