We work with adults who are struggling with reading, writing and communicating in English. Our tutors work one-on-one with these adults to improve their skills. The tutor works closely with the learner for approximately 1.5 hours per week. Literacy Services offers small group classes, additional materials and software to help the tutor/learner pair meet their personal goals. Tutors need not have previous teaching experience and will be trained in tutoring.
During this time of personal distancing, we have taken tutor training and 1:1 tutoring online. We hope you can join us as tutoring, even virtually, is a life-changing experience for all. Once the restrictions have lifted we hope to resume face to face tutoring as well. Thank you for considering working with Newport/Mesa ProLiteracy.
