VITAS Healthcare is currently looking for Proactive Caller Volunteers. The purpose of these calls is to check in on patients and caregivers to see how they are doing. Volunteers for this project can make calls directly from their homes and would involve contacting patients and caregivers once a week. The hours are flexible and we appreciate anytime you are able to contribute. The Volunteer Manager and Staff provide training and ongoing supervision to volunteers for the Proactive calls. This is an excellent opportunity for students in nursing, social work or other healthcare related professions.
This Proactive Call Volunteer project requires having a computer at home with internet access. It requires a strong attention to detail and great verbal communication skills when calling patients and caregivers. Strict encryption guidelines for HIPAA are in place to protect patient confidential information. Every VITAS Volunteer receives training in hospice philosophy, how to support patients/families, health/safety precautions and more. Proactive Calls can also be made at our office located at 1801 Park 270 Drive, Suite 150, St. Louis, MO 63146 if you do not feel comfortable using your own phone. For more information, please contact Emily Jokerst at (314)682-3434 or at Emily.Jokerst@vitas.com.
