Words of encouragement and caring thoughts, are always appreciated by our Hospice patients!
We are seeking volunteers to make cards to help transform a patient's day! Let our patients know that they were thought of and remembered for a moment in your day. Homemade cards are all welcome - let your inner creativity loose! This is a great family project and can be done by persons of all ages.
To become part of the Care Note Team, contact Laurie Murry, Homeland Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, and further instructions and ideas will be provided.
Homeland Hospice staff have been forced to make numerous and tough decisions related to how we interact with patients and family members to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Many patients and families are requesting telephone visits instead of personal interaction; hugs and gentle touches that often provide comfort, are not appropriate at this time; and masks, gloves, gowns and other protective equipment are reducing the warmth of visits and making them feel more sterile and impersonal. Families and patients have to deal with suffering alone instead of being surrounded by loved ones at a time when it is most needed. Not able to touch, comfort, and be with someone at the end of life goes against all that hospice stands for and creates unimaginable pain.
Homeland Hospice recently received a note stating "Thank you for all of the inspiring cards you send to my husband! What a wonderful idea!" Care Cards and your kindness can make a huge difference in a patient's day!
