ORGANIZATION: Arlington Free Clinic

  • 7 people are interested

The Arlington Free Clinic is seeking fully bilingual (English/Amharic) individuals to support our mission.
Due to the COVID crisis, staff and volunteer medical professionals need volunteer interpreters to assist with check-in phone calls and scheduled telemedicine appointments.

Scheduling is flexible as interpreters will be paired with medical volunteers as both parties are available. Shifts are expected to be 1-2 hours weekly, as needed.

Interested interpreters should reach out via volunteer match or by emailing volunteer@arlingtonfreeclinic.org. After an application and interview, prospective volunteers will be screened for fluency.

Arlington Free Clinic is a private non-profit organization that provides free, comprehensive healthcare to the uninsured population of Arlington County.

About Arlington Free Clinic

Location:

2921 11th Street South, Arlington, VA 22204, US

Mission Statement

Arlington Free Clinic advances health equity by providing comprehensive, whole-person healthcare to our neighbors who would otherwise lack access.

Description

At Arlington Free Clinic (AFC), we care for the whole person. Volunteer providers treat patients for every condition from chronic diabetes to cancer, while mental health counselors help them cope with the stresses of serious illness and poverty. New wellness programs and increased focus on preventive care help our patients live healthier lives. And, for the first time since the Clinic opened, visits to the dentist allow our patients to go out into the world with a confident smile.

Since 1994, Arlington Free Clinic has been committed to providing exemplary health care for Arlingtonians in need, serving about 1,600 patients each year. Access to health care makes such a critical difference in the lives of individuals and families - giving them peace of mind and economic security - and we continue to work every day toward a healthier Arlington.
