The Volunteer Screener gathers relevant information about prospective volunteer candidates while assessing which positions volunteers are best suited for. Provides excellent customer service to all new volunteers joining the American Red Cross.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts volunteer interviews over the phone with prospective volunteers. Some interviews are pre-scheduled, whereas others are cold calls, depending on the prospective volunteer's availability.

Studies and learns each volunteer position description. At any given time we can have dozens of positions, each with a unique set of qualifications, training, and background needed. Your goal will to become an expert in understanding these positions so that you can best place a new volunteer in a role they will excel in, based on skills, interest, availability and available options.

Prepares for each screening interview including reads a candidates application/profile and the corresponding position description they are applying for.

Asks identifying questions, during the screening interview, appropriate to the responsibilities and qualifications for the volunteer position requested. Provides prospective volunteers with information about the intake, referral and placement process.
