The Youth Breakthrough Program (YBP) is a Pathway Impact youth empowerment initiative intended to support the youth between the ages of 15 - 30 who are still in the schooling system or graduates that have not been able to make any further progression, especially in terms of a career or occupation. This program is intended to unlock potential and to address the common obstacles and barriers that prevent social mobility, employment and financial independence among Uganda’s youth.

The Opportunity

We now need a group of enthusiastic mentors, entrepreneurs, leaders and motivational individuals who are interested in this project. We are looking for volunteers that have a good working knowledge about the hiring cycle, career planning, job search and job preparation skills. We also need individuals that are comfortable presenting to audiences and providing pertinent information such as essential tips about CVs, job interviews and different approaches to establishing an occupation and career, including self-employment. Creativity is key to what we aspire to share with the youth and it will be important to demonstrate this in various ways. Together with a team, you will run this project on a tour basis at different youth centers, schools and universities in order to maximize impact. This is a great opportunity to tour Uganda and appreciate the different food, culture, languages and scenery. This service learning experience will expose you to the challenges the youth face in securing employment and also present to you an opportunity to find solutions in an unfamiliar environment. We believe that learning from a highly motivated team will inspire and impact the youth in using and applying new skills and techniques for employment. The intended outcome of this project is to see more educated youth gainfully employed and living responsible and dignified lives.
