ORGANIZATION: Lutheran Social Service of MN

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) and public schools in Crow Wing County are looking for volunteers to help mentor, tutor and give confidence to elementary and middle school aged children. This program is referred to as Foster Grandparent and has been a success throughout the state helping many young children and seniors grow by fostering confidence, emotional support and learning by both the student and the volunteer!

Volunteers will serve with school districts in Crow Wing County and be provided direction from teachers in a classroom setting. All volunteer hours will be represented at the same school throughout the year.

Volunteers receive a tax-free stipend, and other accolades for being a part of this program. Must be 55+ to volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program.

Description

LSS is the largest, statewide non-profit social service agency in Minnesota with over 2, 400 employees who serve in 300 communities. It is owned by the six Minnesota synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Services are divided into four divisions:
