ORGANIZATION: Special Olympics Montana

Special Olympics Montana in the Missoula Area is looking for a Track-n-Field Venue Director to help oversee day-of track-n-field events, organize equipment, and ensure the competition runs smoothly during Spring Area Games on April 15-April 17th, 2020.

Position:Venue Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-of competition at assigned venue
  • Attend planning and training meetings, as necessary
  • Manage delivered competition equipment and ensure it is gathered at the end of competition
  • Oversee volunteers (officials, scorekeepers, timers, etc.)
  • Manage any questions or concerns during competition with support of Competition Co-Directors
  • Arrive at venue to prepare, at minimum, one (1) hour before competition begins
  • Place appropriate signage at venue prior to start of competition (feather banners, parking, restrooms, etc.)
  • Record results on provided heat sheets and submit to GMS coordinator at completion of competition each day
  • Knowledge of the Special Olympic sport rules (rules will be provided)
  • Manage water at venue (refillable jugs or bottled water), as necessary
  • Direct awards volunteers to provided awards equipment
  • Contact and communicate with venue representative who will oversee facility management during competition (ie: garbage removal and replacement bags, toilet paper, hand towels, etc.)

Time Commitment: This role requires volunteer to attend planning meetings before the games, as scheduled. As stated above, the Venue Director must arrive at least one hour before competition begins and stay until all other volunteers and teams have left.
