Special Olympics Northeastern Area is searching for an Area Director! Do you enjoy leading a team of committed volunteers? Creating meaningful events? Working to make the world more inclusive? Then this position could be for you. PRIMARY DUTIES: Area Planning and Oversight: with input from fellow Area leaders, creates and administers the annual plan and budget. Meetings: Schedules regular meeting times and locations; develops meeting agendas and collaborates with the Assistant Area Director and SOMT Outreach Coordinator. Special Olympics Montana Liaison: Participates in monthly Area Director calls with fellow ADs around the state and SOMT staff. Communication: Speaks to the media and community on behalf of the organization EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:Prior experience with a nonprofit organization or sports organization preferred. Ability to supervise and effectively delegate to other volunteers. The ability to communicate openly and in a timely manner. Must complete Class A volunteer application and screening process through Special Olympics Montana. TRAINING PROVIDED: by Special Olympics Montana staff. Ongoing training provided annually. COMPENSATION: Smiles, hugs, and lifelong friendship! This is a volunteer, non-paid position. Allowable expense reimbursements are available. Special Olympics Montana Southeast Area is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to invite others in their community to participate in the joy-inspiring experience of volunteering with Special Olympics. The Volunteer Coordinator supports the work and progress of athletes by recruiting and managing volunteers for competition opportunities and special events at the local area level. The Volunteer Coordinator promotes volunteerism with SOMT and the local area through effective communication to/from volunteers and dedication to the mission of Special Olympics Montana. PRIMARY DUTIES: Orientation & Training: Review Volunteer Handbook with all new volunteers and connect them with appropriate training opportunities. General Placement & Management: Assign and schedule volunteers for various positions during Area competition events and local special events, while overseeing volunteer registration at all Area competitions and special events. Establish and maintain volunteer contact lists for specific events and role Communication & Meeting Attendance: share current area and team opportunities; attend leadership meetings as well as all Area Games committee meetings as needed. Primary Purpose: oversees all work and committees dedicated to facilitating local Area competitions. Works with SOMT’s Sports Department to ensure Area events are in-line with both state and international regulations. Assist the Sports Department in organizing first-rate sports training opportunities for Special Olympics athletes and coaches in their local Area. This position is the primary liaison between SOMT’s Sports Department and the local AMT and is responsible for ensuring that all coaches and athletes have the most up-to-date information regarding competition rules and regulations. Primary Duties: General Area Competition Oversight: Together with the AMT, Area Games Committees, SOMT’s Sports Department, and GMS Coordinator organize, facilitate and conduct annual Area Games events. Committee Management & Recruitment: Work to recruit and manage volunteers and volunteer groups to facilitate Area Games events. Coaches Training Facilitation: Work with Local Program Coordinators and SOMT’s Sports Department to identity and offer at least 3 needed coaches training annually in the Area. Competition Registration: Design and distribute all Area Games competition registration materials to teams in the Area. Communication: Oversee all communication with the AMT, LPCs and coaches regarding training and competition opportunities in the Area. Meetings: Attend monthly AMT meetings as well as all Area Games committee meetings. EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: Prior experience with a nonprofit organization or sports organization preferred.
