Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: MetaCoders, Inc.

We're looking for volunteers to provide classroom support for our Coding Coaches and students. Learning Scientists will monitor classes, step in as necessary to provide educational interventions, and help Coaches make high-level strategic decisions to ensure all students achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

If you are interested in volunteering in classrooms, MetaCoders will provide you all the training and materials you need to make a difference as a Learning Scientist.

In San Diego, we're specifically looking for volunteers who are able to travel to as many of our after-school programs as possible. You can see a map of our locations here: https://secure.thoughtstem.com/browse/locations. Visiting all of our locations isn't required, but we are looking for volunteers who are open to visiting at least 10 of them over the course of Spring quarter.

Location:

2635 Camino del Rio South, Suite 103, San Diego, CA 92108, US

Mission Statement

MetaCoders’ mission is to prepare students for the future by not just teaching coding, but teaching students how to learn new programming languages. Programming languages come and go, so students need to be ready to learn the next language - whatever that may be! This means MetaCoders spends time teaching students about their brains and how they learn!

Description

For the past 7 years, the founders of MetaCoders have been pioneering innovative approaches to teaching students coding. MetaCoders operated as a for-profit for several years as we honed our skills as educators and developed new technologies to better engage our students. Now, we are teaching students worldwide!

MetaCoders offers a daily, drop in Virtual Coding Club as well as custom opportunities for students, families, and co-learning "pods." Our unique badge system allows students to learn and explore what interests them the most at the speed that is right for them, all while being guided and inspired by Coding Coaches in a digital classroom.
