Did you know nearly 60% of nursing home residents have no visitors, and need someone to help them voice their concerns? Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. If you want to help others make informed choices about where they live and the care they receive we welcome you as an Ombudsman volunteer.

These friendly visitors are advocates who adopt a nearby nursing home or assisted living and visit with residents twice per month. They educate residents to know their rights, work with residents to resolve basic concerns, make observations of the facility.

Pro Seniors long-term care ombudsmen are advocates who ensure that people are being treated with respect in their long-term care situation. Ombudsmen adopt a nearby nursing home or assisted living and visit twice per month educating residents to know their rights. With the client’s permission they work with them to resolve basic concerns. handle complaints about long-term care services and act as a go-between, voicing the needs and concerns of the clients to nursing homes, home health agencies, and other providers of long-term care. They also enjoy visiting with the residents!

Volunteers complete 10 hours of training and shadow a staff ombudsman for 2 hours and must pass the certification exam from the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
