Check out the Butterfly House’s MANTIS Program!
MANTIS (Making Advocates of Nature-Loving Teens In Service) is an interactive volunteer program created to encourage students to gain hands-on experience in nature conservation, while gaining plant and animal knowledge through environmental stewardship. If you’re looking to complete service hours and love nature, then this program is for you!
Who can join?
MANTIS is for teens ages 14-18 that love working with kids, learning about the environment and want to promote a better understanding of our natural world!
When can I volunteer?
All new MANTIS volunteers must begin in the summer session. MANTIS sessions:
Shifts are available Tuesday-Sunday (days, and evenings during special events)
What are the expectations?
The Butterfly House requires teen volunteers to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per seasonal rotation. Teens must attend orientation and training sessions.

Two teacher recommendation letters are required for each student.

The Butterfly House and Education Center emphasizes conservation, education and fun. Its highlights include a free flight house with 1200 butterflies, a native habitat garden and changing temporary exhibits.
