Join Forterra and the Port of Tacoma in celebrating Earth Day through volunteering. We will be out at Gog Le Hi Te Wetlands, one of the Port of Tacoma’s wetland restoration projects right at the mouth of the Puyallup River. This is a vital spot for young salmon to rest before heading out to the open ocean. We will be removing aggressive weeds and caring for native trees and shrubs. This will improve the site's natural habitat and ecological functions and will benefit the greater Tacoma community.
What to bring: Wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate layers for working outside, rain or shine! Please bring a reusable water bottle - we will bring the coffee and snacks!
If you are a volunteer under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian, please print and bring this waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
