TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSeattle , where x = independently organized TED event.

TEDxSeattle is one of the first and longest running TEDx events in the world. Now we are proud to say it is one of the largest as well. What started in 2010 as a single-day event called TEDxRainier with an audience of 600 people has evolved into TEDxSeattle with an audience that now fills McCaw Hall’s 2,800 seat auditorium.

The TEDxSeattle organization and annual event is a 100% volunteer-run and self-supporting nonprofit and we are currently looking for a Head of Content Marketing to join our team!

We are looking for a world-class content marketer to help build and run a team of content writers and editors. In this role, you will work directly with many of the key departments on the TEDxSeattle team and will be responsible for all the written content that is shared with our audience and community.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and leading a team of volunteer content writers and copy editors.
  • Overseeing the process of creating TEDxSeattle Speaker bios to be used on the website, social, email, and print.
  • Overseeing the creation of email copy for all TEDxSeattle email campaigns.
  • Working directly with the Head of Marketing to build a content strategy for the year.
  • Overseeing the creation of written content for the printed program provided to all attendees at the TEDxSeattle main event.
  • Building a content strategy for our ancillary events TEDxSeattleWomen, TEDxYouth@Seattle, and TEDxSeattle Salons.
  • Occasionally, rolling up your sleeves and doing some content writing and copy editing yourself.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a respected leader in multichannel content creation and management (publishing, journalism, etc.).
  • 5+ years in a professional writing role
  • Ability to interface with a number of internal stakeholders, including distributed teams, as well as external partners
  • Demonstrated experience creating a consistent one-of-a-kind voice

Time Commitment

  • 6-10 hours/week

We also produce a series of smaller TEDx events around Seattle during the year.
