Did you know hospice serves patients in nursing homes?

Hospice Volunteers provide companionship and emotional/spiritual support to our hospice patients living in facilities. Volunteers provide a wide range of services...reminiscing, playing cards, watching favorite movies, reading, sharing music or just sitting quietly with someone who doesn't want to be alone.

We are looking for volunteers to visit patients in nursing facilities in and around Stoughton. You will visit multiple patients during a typical 2 hours shift (lots of flexibility).

Full training and ongoing support provided.

For more information, please contact Susan Fuller at 508-434-2200 or email at sfuller@overlook-mass.org

Please include your phone number in all responses.

Mission Statement

Setting the Standard of Excellence One Individual at a Time!

Description

Hospice care is considered to be the model for quality and compassionate care for people facing a terminal illness. At the center of hospice care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free, with dignity and the comfort of knowing our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.

Overlook Hospice Services provides a program of care to meet the needs of individuals, and their caregivers, nearing the end of life’s journey. Skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers help support both the patient and their families. Hospice Services helps relieve the physical, emotional, and social pain, which enables the seriously ill person to life at home with family, comfort and dignity. The support provides help to cope with the circumstances associated with a terminal illness

Hospice care is a philosophy of care that accepts dying as a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice seeks neither to hasten nor postpone it.
