Help Seniors Talk to their Doctors in Medical Appointments

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services

  • 7 people are interested

Be there to help a senior remember what to tell the doctor, understand the doctor, be comfortable, and keep track of medical appointments. As a Medical Advocate, you will be matched with a senior, become familiar with their medical issues, and make sure their concerns are addressed. Training is provided. Transportation to and from appointments is also provided.

We look for volunteers with sufficient weekday availability to schedule medical appointments, which average about three hours in length. Importantly, this opportunity takes place during weekday business hours. We're looking for volunteers who can plan to stay with the program for at least a year.
