Just 1 to 2 hours a week. Here at Bridge Hospice we believe in helping relieve the pressure of patients/family members /caregivers with basic tasks helping them live the best life they can for their whole life.

We have several simple things our volunteers can do to help our families in need.

5 Simple Things that volunteers can do:
1. Sit with patient while caregiver runs to bank, grocery store, or post office
2. Play music for patient from phone. Play music that was popular at
one time for the patient. Perhaps the Big Band sound, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby
or Nat King Cole would bring a smile to someone who isn't able to play music for
themselves.
3. Read to the patient - Bible scriptures from Psalms are comforting
4. Be a compassionate listener. Visit with patient, caregiver, family
members and listen to their stories. Everyone has a story. It is important to them
and we want them to know their stories matter.
5. Take their pet outside for a walk. Something they may not be able to do or have time
to do.

Just a few simple things that make a world of difference to the family you are visiting.
2-4 hours a month may not be too much to give, but 2-4 hours is a lot to give
to someone in need.
