Lantern Community Services is an organization that champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are formerly homeless or have recently aged out of foster care through supportive housing. Our programs - which have proven results in health, employment, education and life skills - are delivered inside our residences and tailored to each person’s needs.
For our clients with young children, we are looking for tutors who can dedicate a hour or two to helping elementary and middle school students with their coursework. We hope the volunteer can help foster and inspire a positive attitude towards education, as well as assess the student's strengths and weaknesses. We could use help in all subject areas but writing and math are especially needed. Times to volunteer will typically be after 3:30pm on weekdays.
