Help Seniors Enter the Digital Age!
Become A Volunteer - One-on-One Computer Coaching and/or Virtual Group Participation Assistance!
Our agency’s "Silver Circles" senior computer education program provides one-on-one and group sessions to help older men and women use technology - from beginners wanting to learn the basics, to more savvy seniors yearning to learn new things or struggling with issues they just can’t grasp. We also provide virtual group participation assistance to clients in their homes wishing to attend agency groups (who cannot in person due to mobility or other limitations), using either client-owned devices or agency-owned iPads.
"Silver Circles" Computer Coaching entails:
* Working with older adults, age 60+, on computers, tablets, cell phones, & more
* One-on-one sessions (one-hour minimum), either in seniors’ homes or in our agency office
* Individualized approaches based on older adults’ needs/interests
* Dedication, time, patience, and understanding when figuring out how to address each topic
"Silver Circles" Virtual Group Participation Assistance entails:
* Helping older adults, age 60+, connect to Search and Care groups via video chat in-home (FaceTime, Skype, Zoom)
* Bringing agency iPads to and from clients’ homes (if clients do not have their devices) before and after each group
* Assisting clients with any video chat setup required on their own devices, if needed
* Bringing each client group-specific refreshments to enjoy while participating
Requirements:
* Must be at least 18 years old with a valid SSN (background check required)
* Ability to work one-on-one with older adults, determining their optimal learning style
* Willingness to travel to the Upper East Side/East Harlem in Manhattan (East 60s and above, from the East River - Fifth Avenue)
* Ability to set appropriate boundaries if/when necessary
* Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude!
