We are looking for organized, passionate animal lovers to become a store lead at our Petco Cattery!

Pet Store Kitten Care Team Lead
Volunteer Position Description

**Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer with this opportunity**

Function/Impact:

• Work closely with Best Friends staff and volunteers to help decide which cats will fill our Petco cattery, ensure all supplies are stocked and scheduled volunteer shifts are covered so that we can save shelter animals!!

Reports to:

• Houston Volunteer Engagement Manager

Time Commitment and Location of Work:

• Morning shift

• Evening shift,
• Commit to at least four shifts every month
• PetCo near 1-10 and Grand Parkway

Core Responsibilities:

• Train new volunteers on Cattery processes and protocols
• Provide quality customer service to potential adopters and fellow volunteers

• Process Adoptions (separate training offered)
• Check on the well-being of cats
• Ensure animal care items are stocked and well maintained
• Report to Best Friends team with any adoption updates, missing items, shifts etc
• Report any issues immediately to the Houston Team
• Check shifts weekly to see which shifts need to be covered
• Recruit fellow volunteers via email, text or phone call to get shifts covered

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Friendly and Organized

• Willingness to follow protocols and Best Friends standards
• Access to a computer for volunteer software, emails and to communicate with Best Friends team members
• Able to lift at least 20 lbs
• Reliable transportation
