We are always looking for outgoing and caring animal lovers to join our team to take care of kittens and talk to potential adopters! We rely on our volunteers to help us place cats and kittens into their forever homes and we are hoping YOU CAN HELP!

Pet Store Kitten Care Team

Volunteer Position Description

**Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer with this opportunity**

Function/Impact:

• Perform basic caregiving duties for the adoptable cats in the various cat habitats at one of our local pet stores and help increase local adoptions.

Reports to:

• Houston Volunteer Engagement Manager and Petco Volunteer Lead

Time Commitment and Location of Work:

• Morning shift, Flexible Between 9 am - 4 pm
• Evening shift, Flexible Between 5 pm and 9 pm

• Commit to at least four shifts every month
• Petco Katy

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide quality customer service to potential adopters
• Process Adoptions (training provided)

Check on the well-being of cats

• Scoop cat habitat litter boxes
• Wipe down and sanitize all surfaces of habitat
• Refresh food and water
• Report any issues immediately to the Houston Volunteer and Foster Coordinator

• Sign up for recurring shifts on our volunteer calendar and ensure that you attend your shift or notify us in advance if you can't make your shift.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Willingness to follow protocols and Best Friends standards
• Access to computer to sign up for shifts and communicate with Best Friends team members

• Able to lift at least 20 lbs
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s license
