Lantern Community Services is an organization that champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are formerly homeless or have recently aged out of foster care through supportive housing. Our programs - which have proven results in health, employment, education and life skills - are delivered inside our residences and tailored to each person’s needs.
In our residences with families, we host weekly art classes for the children. In the class, children are able to compete a number of art projects with the help of our art therapist who helps design activities that allow the children to express themselves. We are currently looking for a volunteer who can help out during the class setting up supplies, helping the kids complete their projects, and assisting clean up. The class runs on Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
Send us a message if you're interested and we can really use your help!
About Lantern Community Services
494 8th avenue, 20th floor, New York, NY 10001, US
Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who have been impacted by or threatened with homelessness, as well as those who have aged out of foster care.
Lantern is home to more than 1,400 formerly homeless people who live in our 15 apartment buildings across New York City. We pioneered services for people living with HIV, and we are one of the largest providers for young adults who have aged out of foster care. We give people more than just basic support and a place to live, prioritizing interventions with scientifically proven results. We’ve grown our programs a lot recently, working creatively with our existing resources, but now we need volunteer power to bring more programs to more of our clients!
We'll work with your schedule.
