Do you have a passion for food and want to impact food insecurity in Seattle? Love working with people and delegating roles? Check this out!
FareStart's Community Meals Kitchen is where our students learn the foundation of food service and where over 900 meals a day, 365 days a year, are created for local homeless shelters. On weekends and holidays, we rely on volunteer power to ensure that we can get these important meals to our neighbors in need.
Overview of role:
The Community Meals Kitchen Volunteer Lead is a volunteer who helps to support our chefs in setting up and managing the volunteers. Leads will fulfill a variety of tasks including setting up work stations, welcoming volunteers, signing volunteers in, orienting volunteers on FareStart and what their roles are and more. Leads are key in ensuring that our volunteers are excited, engaged and oriented on tasks. This enables our chefs to ensure that production stays on time and that the students there get the attention they need.
Timing:
Community Meals Lead shifts are from 9:30am-3pm (at the latest). Volunteers are asked to take on one shift per month.
Ideal Qualifications:

WHO WE ARE
FareStart has been helping people transform their lives through food for 30 years - one person, one job and one community at a time.
People experiencing poverty struggle to escape the cycle they are in and often face other compounding barriers to getting and keeping a job. At FareStart, we help people overcome barriers by teaching work and life skills needed to succeed in employment and in life. By investing in people, providing meals and building community, we transform homelessness, hunger and poverty into human potential.
