POSITION TITLE: Translator, Nepali

EPARTMENT: Marketing, Public Relations, and Communications  

REPORTS TO:Reporting to the Director of Global Marketing

OBJECTIVE:In this role, you will use your equally advanced language skills to translate source material from English into Nepali.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Providing idiomatic translations of non-technical material (letters, memos, ads, brochures, news releases, reports and other marketing materials and communications) from Nepali to English.
  • Ensuring the use of correct syntax and expression from English to Nepali, placing words, terms, phrases and statements in the proper cultural context.
  • Collaborating closely with Nepali localization expert on all translations to ensure accuracy.

The successful candidate should have:

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as translators from Nepali into U.S. English.
  • Native proficiency in English and Nepali preferred, not required
  • Ability to provide full, error-free translations of documents, maintaining the complete integrity and meaning of original source material.
  • Ability to translate using colloquial or slang words and phrases.
  • Ability to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers
  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills in Nepali and English.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign language education, training or certification.
  • Experience working remotely as part of a team. 
  • Experience working in a start-up company, non-profit or entrepreneurial environment. 
  • Self-directed and disciplined with the ability to work independently in an ever-changing environment.
